Organic Waste Recycling Tips

OrganicsRecycling

Did you know? When organic waste, such as food scraps or green waste, is disposed in landfills, it decomposes and produces methane, a greenhouse gas that is 84 times more potent than carbon dioxide. To reduce the amount of organic waste sent to landfills, the State of California has adopted Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383) into law. In accordance with the law, all households will receive 35 gallon organics carts and must participate in the organic waste recycling program by properly disposing of organic waste.

Residential organics waste cart deliveries began the week of Jan. 23 in Aliso Viejo. Please note that your monthly rate will not change under the new law. For any questions or concerns, contact CR&R Customer Service at (877) 728-0446. For more information on the organics waste recycling program, visit avcity.org.
